Distinctive Gem

Found a beautiful design made by Caysie Van Bebber and saw tremendous testimonials for distinctive gem online. Sure enough, everything came out to be as good as advertised. Jonathan remained in constant communication with us through the whole process and gave us great transparency and advice. Him, CVB, and all people involved in Distinctive Gem rushed to make sure the ring was received by me well before Christmas in spite of my ordering very late. Couldn't be happier, I saw lots of nice sites online for engagement rings, but what especially stood out working with Distinctive Gem was that it felt like I had extra people in my corner helping me through the process at every step and equally excited as me in making sure we get the ring we want.

I was assisted at every step in purchasing my diamond. The descriptions were detailed, the GIA report was helpful, and when I reached out with questions the team was personable and made it an amazing experience. The old European cut they produce is spectacular, cut is exquisite, absolutely knock out, one of a kind, gorgeous. On the 4th of July I got the 'diamond fever' and had to satisfy my diamond craving! I found a beautiful IF 1.03 W-X diamond on Distinctive Gem's website. I knew Jonathan was trustworthy because of his reputation in the gem and jewelry community, and I had been following him on social media for years. I had never purchased a diamond online before, and was nervous because 1) the price 2) a diamond's beauty is so hard to capture online, and is very subjective to the owner. But he had THE BEST price I had ever seen for an alphabet yellow, Internally Flawless modified brilliant cut oval, ever. So on impulse I bought it! His customer service team Vicki was in touch with me right away, confirming my order and keeping me updated on shipping details. Whenever I emailed her, she emailed me back within minutes. Jonathan himself sent me personalized videos of my stone under different lighting, so I could see a 360 view of the stone. My stone was sent overnight shipping, and it was so bundled up in packaging that I knew it was totally safe in transit. The stone itself is more amazing than I could have imagined. It is truly brilliant, with excellent cut (no bow-tie) and bright flashes of fire in both sunlight and under white light. I am so happy with my purchase, and I see now why Distinctive Gem and Jonathan are so loved in the gem community. He will be my first stop when (not if, haha) I have another diamond craving. I originally contacted Jonathan because I wanted to see his round moissanites, and wanted something else other than C&C. He promptly sent me a personalized video with the stone under different lighting and I was impressed with the quick and thorough turnaround. At the same time, I was also looking at ring settings and came across a style that I liked, but wasn't too keen on the price I was quoted from another retailer. Knowing that Jonathan also did custom settings, I decided to work with him to see what he could do. After almost 150 email exchanges (and a lot of patience from him) on refining the setting to my preference, we landed on the perfect design! I also thought I got a great price on the custom setting. I ended up purchasing a diamond for my center stone after browsing his collection and seeing that his prices were lower than some other online retailers. I just received my ring and it is gorgeous! Prior to contacting him, I had read reviews about his great customer service, so I was already coming in with some expectation but I was still blown away by the whole experience. Jonathan and Vicki are amazing!

TLDR: My fiance loves her ring and seeing her face is priceless every time I catch her gazing at it in different lighting conditions.

I had done a good deal of research, almost a year (learning the 4Cs, understanding costs, budgeting, etc) before reaching out to Jonathan. I went with a custom cut AVC diamond because, at the time, there just was not a rock available at my desired spec level. The process was straight forward and Jonathan kept open communication along every step of the way.

For the setting, I drew the initial design on a piece of paper and emailed it to Jonathan. He was able to take that drawing and realize it into CAD. After a couple of back and forth emails with some CAD tweaks, we came to a design that had all the elements in my original sketch.

Once the diamond got certified, everything got put together and shipped overnight and was fully insured.

When I received the courier package and opened the box, I was so happy how everything turned out. The AVC needs no additional rave review. If you have seen one in video or in person, there is no denying you have one of the best performing diamonds you can buy. The setting was very high quality and looked better in person than on the CAD simulation.

The whole experience was great! Jonathan is a professional and his passion for customer service, bundled with his knowledge and experience in the business made everything that much more worthwhile.

I wanted to wait for my stone to be set so I had a photo to go with my review, but I just couldn't wait any longer.

I had THE best experience. Jonathan is my saviour.

I'd been researching and looking for my engagement stone for months. Seven. Painful. Months. There is soo much information out there, and soo many people that just want to sell you their "stuff". They don't care, and they don't want to make the experience enjoyable, or go out of their way.

Johnathan was the complete opposite. I sent him an email in desperation, hoping that this time someone would want to help. And did he ever! I got a personalised video, quick and friendly responses to my many emails and silly questions. And then, to top off the worlds best customer service, THE MOST AMAZING STONE EVER. My August Vintage OEC diamond is simply stunning. I couldn't stop looking at from every angle when it arrived (super quick and efficiently all the way to Australia!).
