I came here to try my luck and even though I haven't won anything yet I still enjoy entering and feeling hopeful I might be lucky enough to win one day!
I've had a couple of wins, so far! Biggest was $200. But, it's great fun and not overly time consuming! As they say, you've got to be in it to win it...
Why should we pay a yearly fee, when half the comps are either Facebook or instagram and they are free to anyone
Hi Toni,
All competitions listed on Competitions Guide can be found for free at any time, so nobody has to pay us to enter these competitions.
Joining us as a Go Premium works out at 11 cents a day, and for that we save our members hours of searching for competitions to enter each day. And we're pretty sure that saving money can cost you missing out on good comps that you won't find through your own searching.
There's another thing. If you're wondering how free competitions websites operate, it's not because they're great people who like to do stuff for others. A competition website is a great way to get to your valuable information, and these sites ask a lot of questions.
Because we make money from subscriptions we only ask for a few general pieces of info. We don't need to know your phone number or street address, or actual birth date...
We also don't allow businesses to post their own competitions - everything posted at Competitions Guide has been verified by our editorial! :)
I have been with competionsguide from the very beging, when comps were only posted on a tuesday, i have been very lucky and won quite a few comps, the latest being a $10,000 outdoor kitchen, i have also had the pleasure of being on a current affairs twice and i did a documantary on comping as well, some thing i never thought would happen, all thanks to competions guide. I will say though most people think that if you enter a comp today it should be drawn within in a week, they need to remember what you enter today may not be drawn months down the track or even the following year.
I enter the outdoor kitchen early last year, so i had forgotten id entered till i got the call saying id won.
Entering comps is exciting and enjoyable, my total winnings to date is close to $250.000 thats everything from holidays to a spider vac lol.
For those reading this review, Hellen has been possibly our biggest and most consistent winners for more years than I can remember. Hellen appeared on A Current Affair displaying her wins, and most recently picked up a massive outdoor kitchen. Thanks for the review, Hellen, I was hoping we'd hear from you at some stage :)
Have entered a few competitions but have not won yet. Wondering if its real as i dont know anyone else thats won
Hi Samantha, If you take a look at our Winner's pages you'll find more winners than you could hope for, and remember these are only members that have chosen to tell us about their wins. Also, if you scroll down the list of competitions you'll see that most are either big name brands, or brands that you would be likely to recognise.
Okay, now to the hard part, as you said you've entered a few competitions but have not won yet. One of the most important things to remember is to treat comps as a numbers game. Although therre is no guarantee, one of our most successful members has given a 1:100 ratio of expected wins. 100 comps may sound like a lot, but we publish at least 300 every month. If you can keep your numbers up the wins should follow - nothing is ever easy, but it can be done :)
Joined after seeing this on Channel 9, no mention of monthly joining fee, can't enter anything without paying "Premium" membership, can't even enter the Vaxxed comps, this will be quickly deleted and unsubscribed, if you can't mention there is a cost involved on the TV, don't surprise me with it after I join.
Hi Grant, the Channel 9 show you mentioned was the National News. We were asked to comment on the vaccination competition that was being run at the time. At no time do we get asked questions about our business model, that's not what the news is there for (and we would have happily answered if we were asked).
I decided to write a review as there are no independent reviews available online for this competition platform. I am a premium member that cost me just under $40 for a year. I joined early January'20 and these are my observations:
- A large number of compts invite you to fill in your details to enter, they even ask you for full DOB that is concerning.
- A lot of times I do not receive even a confirmation email that I have entered.
- Even if I won I doubt I would be informed in a transparent manner, there are very few comps that will call you or sent a letter. The expectation is that you look for the place where each business posts results and with active comping that is not feasible.
- Since I started playing in competitionsguide.com.au I have been harassed by scams, robocalls and marketing calls daily that I need to keep reporting and blocking which means they share your contact details to a ridiculous amount of the third parties of a shady quality.
- My inbox is clogged up with junk mail daily.
- And no, in spite of entering in about 4-5 comps per day I have won nothing.
The competitionsguide.com.au does not offer a functional filter to see what competitions I have entered or not entered as most comps redirect to their own website. When I try to filter it I get comps that I entered listed as not entered, entering twice will disqualify you and since many comps do not send confirmation of entry, unless you keep a spreadsheet you will not know.
Competitionsguide.com.au also does not offer any listing to see who won (and they should), it is a vague poor quality platform that you need to be managing yourself. They reuse pictures to confuse you even more.
Save your 40 buks.
*** the attached screenshot is for evidence that I am a premium member. I edited any private or restricted content by blurring it out.
Hi M. G,
We are not questioning that your review is independent, but there's a few things to respond to.
First up, we don't run any of the competitions we list. As our website does not have a 'submit' button, it means that competition promoters aren't able to list their own comps, and frees us up to check them out more thoroughly. But, as to what they ask for (date of birth etc.) is entirely their call. We don't agree with the large amounts of questions often asked as they are mostly not needed, and reduce the amount of entries received.
If you are getting annoying calls and emails from 3rd parties, these mostly come from competitions called 'co-reg' (survey paths) that infiltrate ads posted on websites that run competitions. For the most part there is nothing illegal about these, but one entry can mean hearing from hundreds of other companies - it's a trap new compers will fall for.
We do offer the facility of tracking competitions entered or not entered (green tick or red cross).
In terms of reporting winners, as our website is not tied to competition promoters we are not in a position to do this. Also, remember you said to 'save your 40 buks' - adding this service would at least require an additional two staff members which would increase our costs significantly. $39.60 for a year/11 cents a day can't fund a gold class service that most people would pay for.
Lastly, we do reuse images, but minimally. We either take screenshots from a comp page, or use images that are stock standard.
Hope this goes some way to addressing your concerns :)
I wasn't aware this was an auto-renewal subscription, however, under Australian consumer law the supplier is required to advise you that the renewal is due so you have the option to cease or continue. Despite several emails with Ivy, I was unsuccessful in getting a refund even though I contacted them one day after seeing the renewal go through my bank. She even challenged me to lay a complaint with the ACCC, as that is what I have done. They don't follow the law and should be avoided at all cost.
Hi Les, our terms are extremely brief and easy to read. On two occasions you have manually checked the box that says you have read and understood our auto renewal process. We require new members to do this when they join, and further do this before purchasing a Go Premium Subscription. Auto renewal takes seconds to cancel and is instant.
We have not challenged you to contact the ACCC - our exact quote to you was "Please feel free to take your complaint anywhere you see fit - we will never intentionally operate outside any law as we service tens of thousands of subscribers each year."
In terms of Australian law, we disagree with your premise, and remind you that you first directed us to the United States Federal Trade Commission. We are more than happy to discuss your case with the ACCC, if you have lodged a complaint as stated this will be the fourth time in 18 years of operation.
I have been doing Competitions Guide for over two years and have never won a thing. But i'll keep going
Hi Lee, it's disappointing that an ongoing member would leave a one star review based on not winning. Remember, we do not run these competitions, we list them and provide as many tips as we possibly can to help our members win. Shooting the messenger isn't the answer. Instead, why not drop us a line and we'll take a look at your activity and see if we can suggest some ways you can improve your win ratio - we're happy to help!
This site just sells your info to others. Never won anything just got bugged full on by other 3rd parties, constant phone calls and emails. So annoying.
Hi Kat,
We don't sell info to others, it's that simple. Firstly to do so without stating this in terms and conditions is illegal, and secondly we would have very little to sell anyway.
Think about it - we don't ask for your phone number or street address when you sign up. These are the most valuable commodities to an information harvester.
Yes, 3rd party contact is a fact of competitions that we don't take part in, but it does exist.
I've only ever won a very small prize from a yogurt they were giving away there gym pants a few years ago
I've just renewed my membership for a 3rd time, love the ease of competitions coming straight to my email every day…. Now just to turn on my lucky charm and win some big ones!
Competitions Guide gives you the chance to enter competitions you don't come across by yourself. It has given me the opportunity to try my luck at several comps every day.
I have been using this website for many years now and it's my go-to for competitions. Definitely worth the small fee for the convenience.
Thanks Erin, appreciate the review and comments - fantastic to hear!
You pay for membership most of the prizes are raffles you have to buy or you must shop to be in competition you really pay for nothing just a money making sham
Hi Den,
Sorry, but 'most of the prizes are raffles' simply isn't correct. At any time, around 80% of competitions listed on Competitions Guide are free to enter. This rarely changes.
Case in point, as of today (13th September 2022) we have 252 comps listed. 45 require a purchase which is just under 18% - meaning 82% are free entry.
Raffles account for only 8 listings!
On the subject of purchase competitions, many of these are for regular supermarket or liquor products, so their chances of winning are significantly higher, as people either forget or don't bother!
I have won a number of prizes all have been very useful - I enter a number of the cometions on a fortnightly basis and just wait for the results
Thanks Raymond, would love to get your prize list on our winner's page if you haven't already. Love the review!
I have Won a Balsam Hill BH Fraser Fir Christmas Tree Prizes thanks to Competition's Guide thanks for the opportunity.
Thanks Stuart, that looks like a mega tree, hopefully used for years to come. Fingers crossed for some more wins in the future :)
Very Responsive, always helpful. Ive been a customer for several years. If you ask for help, or for advice, they get right on it.
Hi Rich, thanks so much for the review. If my memory serves me you won a huge tool chest, and you've also been great at letting us know when there's issues with any of the competitions. Nice to hear from you!
BEWARE - once you start using and entering into any of the competitions you will see Spam and Unsolicited Text Messages on Steroids!
Hi John, This is really overblown. Had you bothered to point out any business sending either unsolicited calls or emails or even too many of the same, we would have done something about it. We can easily take a business off rotation if they are doing the wrong thing.
Then again, it's easier to leave a one star review, I suppose...
We list competitions that are available to the general public - ur service is time saving and also keeping our members away from the problems you issued above. If you enter a competition run by a business and they send you an email or even a text message, this is not unsolicited.
For the last 4 years I've won more In prizes than I've spent on the subscription. What's not to love
Thanks Linda, we are mostly judged on how many wins we can assist in producing, so hearing members that more than break even is always the best news to hear!
Answer: Hi Wayne, although we don't control the market, it's usually 75-80% are free to enter. We do advise our members to keep a close eye on those requiring a purchase as often it's for supermarket or liquor products that you may buy anyway - these comps usually have bigger prizes and a lot less people entering them (usually because they forget to follow through on the entry).
Competitions Guide has a rating of 3.8 stars from 43 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Competitions Guide ranks 2nd among Contests sites.
Thanks Emma, not sure how long you've been a member but keep an eye on the 'best odds' comps. There's one right now for Canadian Club - they run 1-2 a year and are good for easy wins! Thanks again for taking the time!
