We used Blue Apron for about a year. We never really had any issues with service. I believe once or twice in the year there was something not up to quality but overall no issues. Even though there are a variety of choices we became somewhat dissatisfied with them over time. But... using this service did teach us how to cook differently and healthier so it was definitely good for us.
I live in a small city and so far my onsite delivery accuracy is at 50% I have complained and they credit my account but I cannot count on their delivery arriving on my chosen day and more than half of the time now it gets delivered to a neighbor who brings it by a day or two or three later, partially or fully de thawed. Ugh, I have to toss the whole mess and wait another week with pessimism that I will receive my order.
The Blue Apron serves you the best if you are busy working mother but need a nutritious meal for your kids. Their ready to make meals delivered at your door step makes meals very convenient and opportune.
Received our second blue apron meal this week. The ingredients inside came bruised and inedible with the Greek yogurt and cheese opened and spilled all over the other contents of the bags. I emailed a complaint with pictures and was issued a $13 credit to my account? Obviously unhappy with the solution I called customer services to ask for a refund to my card. They stated they were unable to do that and could only credit my account for the items. I spoke with 2 different people who apologized but were completely unhelpful in a solution. I opted to cancel the subscription and take my loses. Poorly managed customer service. I don't usually write reviews but this one left such a bad taste in my mouth I felt the need to warn others. Not a customer friendly company when they are obviously the ones that screwed up. Disappointed
3 of the 5 deliveries I received were missing ingredients, twice affecting 2 of the 3 recipes for the week. One of the deliveries did not show up at all! When I contacted customer service I received a canned "we're so sorry" response and a credit for 1 of the 2 meals. The whole purpose of this concept is to make life easier for the subscriber by providing them with an all inclusive dinner. Great concept---- lousy execution.
Too bad, because the recipes that I did make, were very good. Stay away unless your are seeking weekly aggravation.
I am a new widow, having lost my husband of 45 years. Initially I found it hard to put any energy into eating but I am a health professional and knew I could not continue down that path. Blue Apron offers me the opportunity to eat a healthy meal at least once a day. I appreciate that the boxes come with exactly what is needed to prepare the menu, there is no waste. Additionally, meal preparation is a time when my mind is occupied by simple productive tasks with a positive endpoint, a delicious dinner.
My husband and I enjoyed the selection that Blue Apron offered. We found the meals were very good. However, we had to cancel due to the high sodium content. The cancellations process was hassle free. Reading all options and requirements is always key before entering into any "contract."
My wife and I tried Blue Apron for a couple weeks. I am a vegetarian and she rarely eats meat so we opted for the vegetarian selections. The price remained the same at approx. $60. So for 3 meals, basically 6 servings, we paid $10 per serving (for veggies and chickpeas as main dishes). I can buy groceries for a week for $60. The time it takes to prepare these meals is quite ridiculous. The time you save by not going to the grocery store is spent in the kitchen toasting nuts and making special sauces which require more effort than it's worth. Although the quality is great, I cannot justify $10 per serving. I am reviewing the vegetarian option only as I have heard good things about the options with meat from my family members.
Blue Apron has served thousands of customers all over the world. I decided to put them to the test and try their meal kits service. The quality of their ingredients is amazing, and everything is farm fresh and organically produced.
Blue Apron delivers all the freshest meats, fish, fruits, and veggies direct to your door in an insulated box. They provide detailed instructions on how to prepare the meals courtesy of in-house chefs. I chose my meals for the week via the App Store, and all the ingredients were shipped directly to my door. They shop for the freshest produce, with quality ingredients from trusted suppliers.

I was given 2 weeks of Blue Apron as a Christmas Gift by my son and his wife. I really did like the meals and enjoyed cooking again so I signed up for the program. The choice of menus are great. You always find meals you will enjoy. For those who don't like spicy things, I say, "don't use it". The food will still be wonderful. I can skip weeks if I go out of town. I have always disliked grocery shopping and now all I have to shop for is milk and cereal. I also save money by not doing what I call "pick up shopping". I don't buy things I don't need and things that will go bad in the fridge because I don't use all of it. I recommend this program.
We are taking a break from the service right now but my wife and I really like Blue Apron. Their recipes were a little complex for week nights but we gave them that feedback and they have since said that they have made them simpler. We are looking forward to trying them again in a week or two. They had great tasting meals though and great quality compared to some of the others we've tried.
Great concept. I only cook for 2 so the portion control is perfect. They overestimate on the calories usually. I initially freaked out on the 600-700 estimated calories they provide on the cards. I downloaded the ingredients and most of the time the estimated calories are way over. That's a good thing for my waistline. Service is consistent. Once I didn't receive an ingredient. I wrote an email and received a reply within an hour. On the weekend! If you don't like the selection you can skip the delivery that week. I've used Blue Apron for 4 months now and very happy with it.
I'm with Blue Apron for couple months and really love it. Food is so tasty and healthy. I saved much of time and don't need to go shopping around. Buying a lot of ingredients which just need a little...
My wife and I have been using Blue Apron for a while. We love it because we cook dishes and use ingredients we never would think to otherwise. It has really broadened our tastes and our willingness to cook new and different things. My only complaint is that I wish there was more variety each week. We will skip a week if we don't love the menu options.
Had a referral from a friend who uses blue apron. Was charged full price and then received a credit. Paused my next meals while I tasted what I had received. Not worth the money. Was out of town and away from e-mail when I found a pending charge on my credit card. Cancelled the service and will dispute the charge. All communication so far has been negative. No customer service...
I worked for blue apron a few months ago. This place is very much unorganized and nasty, dirty and the employees don't care... I watched boxes go out the door that had been put on the floors fell in garbage cans and I saw a manager by the name of Paul use produce out of a filthy garbage can. It was so bad they use to give us free boxes I never wanted one. I also warned my family and friends. They clean the facility when osha or someone important shows up. They are very racist. They use the blacks and Mexicans and lie to them and this keeps drama in the work place. They pay their employees based on the color of their skin not the experience they may have...
So if you got a box with bad produce. Missing items that's why... that place should be shut down... Richmond facility is horrible just Google buzz feed
I have used Blue Apron for a while now; not only do they constantly leave ingredients out, but this week they didn't send the entire box! I emailed them twice and left a voicemail - no surprise that nobody got back to me. Use them only if you want them to steal your money. Thieves.
The instructions are hard to follow and in every box there has been ingredients missing last week I order quiche eggs were not there nor was the shallot and preparing their meals is a lengthy process and often does not come out right. I'm cancelling my membrrship. I also have tried peach dish and I love them!
I agree bait and switch. Charged before you even can try for the next delivery. I am confident this model will lose customers. My friends who said try it were embarrassed and they dropped them. Good takes way to long to prep is average at best. The prep is a turn off and food culdnot be made ahead. HATE IT
We had a friend offer us a free week... so we signed up. Our first order was delivered this past Wednesday by FedEx... box was damaged and had to be relabeled but it was delivered on time. Food was packed well but the vinegar had leaked out, I'm sure this was caused by the delivery not being handled correctly during shipment. Anyway we enjoyed our 3 meal very much. The summer squash cakes are fantastic. We are looking forward to our next delivery. If you decide to try it just read the small print, it explains how Blue Apron works.
Answer: This seems to be Blue Apron's way of holding up a (false, pseudo) customer base for purpose of over-inflating their numbers for investors.
Answer: Hello. You do not know what time the box will arrive, just which day, and you pick which day you want it. I have never had anything spoiled or overheated in our box; there are "ice packets" in it. So as far as choice of meals... when you first sign up you can make choices about things you don't want. We selected no seafood and no walnuts. I wouldn't go crazy opting out of stuff; you can imagine that takes away so many options for delicious recipes. If you have a lot of special food needs, I don't think a meal service is for you. Anyway, we get our box on Tuesdays and on Monday I receive an email saying my box is on its way and what recipes are in it. That email also tells you what's coming for the next week. You can change your recipes up to a few days ahead, which might be convenient if you are worried about what you are getting. You can also go online and see many weeks out and change any of those too. I will say this though, if you are picky picky and not open minded about trying new recipes, I don't know if you should sign up. Blue Apron's recipes are very unique and have a lot of ethnic flavor profiles and spices and things like that; but they have all been great, again, if you want to have fun and try new things. There have been a couple where we thought maybe we should change that, maybe we won't like it, but we didn't and just went ahead and tried it and we have not regretted it once. You can see more on the review I posted.
Answer: They DEFINITELY hide the "cancel" button - I had to email them to find it, and they said "you can always just pause your deliveries!" but you have to hand click each week you want paused, and you can only go a few weeks out. If you do that and forget, deliveries will start up again automatically. It felt very sneaky.
Blue Apron has a rating of 2.5 stars from 138 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Blue Apron most frequently mention customer service, credit card and next delivery. Blue Apron ranks 9th among Food Delivery sites.
