User friendly
January 28, 2012

User friendly. Great support! Used their FREE edition for the last couple of years then checked out what their paid version was like in comparison. For me it comes down to their support being accessable 24/7. Good Value!

Absolutely terrible
August 28, 2019

Avg free trial worked well. When it expired, we installed their Internet security. To our dismay, it kept reverting to the free version and told us it had expired. The new version lasted about one day before reverting. We called Avg. We were asked how many computers we have. (?) The rep tried to upsell a repair package for a computer that had no problems. He was very aggressive and would not disconnect from our computer when asked numerous times. He kept saying that this was their process. Will go back to my previous antivirus.

Rip Off
October 31, 2017

When a company makes it so difficult to cancel a subscription, you have to wonder what they are up to. How many people just give up trying and how much more money does this company make due to people's frustration?!

AVG's browser is invasive, takes up over 625 Megabytes on my PC and was installed without my consent. It's similar to malware which can't be removed. I attempted to uninstall it repeatedly without much success.

Do not accept any software on a 60 day trial, bad idea. I was suppose a receive a notification at the end of the 60 day trial, instead I was charged $80.55. I called AVG and they wanted to download a program on my system. I did not understand why something has to be loaded on computer to remove this trail my computer. I did not download anything when I accepted the 60 trial in June.

Now I have received an email notifying me that I will be charged additional $80.55. How do I get this canceled? Calling the company is nit much help.

Please do not offer me any more free software.

They denied that i paid even after i sent them the order # and on top of that google play will not refund you either. AVG did nothing, so I am just out 19.00 or so. SUCKS. AVG for multiple devices is very difficult to manage. So make sure you go in and end the automatic renewal on goggle play or they will continue to bill you. Underhanded billing practice.

Just purchased the top-of-the-line software package. Much more comprehensive than the 'free' download, which is now apparently much more limited than it was previously. So far I find this equal to, if not superior to Avast. A close friend had a few terrible viruses embedded in his 32. Exe files, and Avast identified them but could not remove them. Avast did remove them, and found a few other issues that Avast had not even identified. This product has a long history of very good reviews as well.

AVG used to be good... so did blackberry, another company that didn't listen to it's customers. Windows 10 very nearly sank to the depths of oblivion, but later began to Listen to their customers. Comparisons yes, but as someone once said "history has the habit of repeating it's self. Remember blackberry... or motorola big players once, but not now?

Absolutely great internet security packages which includes everythin that you would need as well. The price is half that of the competitors and the software is more reliable than my previous one. Ive just bought the basic package but it still includes all the protections.
One of the best customer services ever and they also provided me free upgrade version which I normally would have had to pay. I think its cool and most perfect package which is extremely reasonably priced as well.

AVG is one of the first things I install when I set up computers for the classroom or for myself. Without needing to pay for programs like Norton or McAfee, AVG takes care of my computer's anti-virus needs. Installation is easy, the interface is self-explanatory / easy to use, and the program can actually get rid of those pesky Trojan horses. AVG recently put out their 2011 free edition, which CNET gives 4.5 out of 5 stars. Not bad for a free anti-virus program that rivals their costly counterparts.

I use this software to keep my home computers virus free. The fact that it works great and I don't have to pay for it earned them 5 stars. I tell everyone to use it. My work has even put the paid version on our office computers after my recommendation.

AVG ripoff
January 13, 2020

This company charged my deceased mother's credit card after her death on a credit card I was unaware of. I received a bill and contacted them immediately, 36 days after "purchase," and told them she was unaware of the purchase because she is dead and her computer is gone. I asked for a refund of the $75 and was told they would not refund the money because she should have notified them within 30 days, despite the fact that she was dead. I am considering legal action. There is a principle involved. Do not buy anything from this company!

Terrible
July 19, 2017

This is mainly for AVG PC tune-up, but also about their customer support. I downloaded a free trial of PC tune-up to try to free some unnecessary space from my computer. Would have bought the full version if I was impressed. I got the exact opposite. It doesn't make your PC faster and deleted many files for my games that are required to load properly. Since I decided to use this program, I know have to troubleshoot multiple problems on my PC. To make matters worse the customer support said they couldn't help me bc I didn't have the full version. Terrible company!

Absolutely the most horrible product and horrible company ever. I downloaded the 30 day free trial because my McAfee subscription ran out and I wanted to try something new. Never had a computer problem! As soon as I tried to run the program my computer started to buzz really loudly and froze up. Nothing would work. I called technical support and they wanted money to fix the problem. What a scam they are running! They promised me customer service would help after I was on the phone with them for an hour. Customer service wouldn't help me and said I needed to call Microsoft customer service. Both refused to remove the program. Every time I try to remove it myself I get an error message saying the AVG program encountered a problem and I have to call technical support for help!

I think I was taken out of context. My complaint is the software producers are hiding the auto renewal in a 28 to 42 page docs... I had to put a company web address in to post the comment.

I copy and paste agreements in to a ms word doc and do a find renewal, it helps to find the hidden clause...

AVG.com drives me crazy because they are always trying to sell you stuff or getting you to upgrade to a paid version. I decided I should use MalwareBytes or Avast instead. AVG, I love you, but you've disappointed me.

Don't!
April 8, 2020

My computer had malware issues so the shop I took it to, installed a Free AVG program. When I got home, I thought I'd do better upgrading/paying for it and the site is clear 30-days, full refund to cancel. So I tried. I paid $52 including taxes for a year. Yesterday I cancelled well within my 30 days of having signed up for it and they refunded only $32. There was a $21 charge for OrderFind which my chat rep called a Tune Up and which everyone who subscribes pays for without really knowing what it's for. She kept trying to tell me that I had signed up for programs that I didn't. Back when I signed up, I clicked on 'upgrade' and that was it. Bottom line, it took half an hour today to get the confirmation for the remaining balance which I'm told I'll get in 7-10 days. My chat person hung up on me when I closed by asking 'why was this so complicated?' Maybe AVG works but you'll have it for life because you won't be able to get out of it.

Solid antivirus software. Free version is pretty good, paid is good. There are a few good programs out there both free and paid, they are all on about the same level performance wise.

Bottom Line: If you need a good free antivirus program, this one is a good bet.

AVG won't take no for an answer? Too pushy, keep trying to take payment for closed accounts. Don't start with them or your stuck with them trying to take unnecessary payments.
